MANOSFERA, CULTURA GAMER Y BRECHA DE GÉNERO: DEL JUEGO ONLINE A LAS TRAYECTORIAS FORMATIVAS Y LABORALES
Abstract
Taking as a starting point the consideration of video games as a cultural product and strategic sector in Spain and Europe, the data that confirm that women are the majority as players compared to their scarce presence as workers in the national industry are shown. This work takes as its backbone the dynamics of harassment and exclusion related to the discourses of the manosphere and that are the germ of a hostile environment for women within the gamer community and online games. Current research is explored that points out how such experiences not only affect the visibility of female players, but also their self-perception in relation to their competencies and, ultimately, their educational and professional aspirations in the video game industry.
