Abstract

The study aims to analyze the general aspects of social responsibility in the
Brazilian business sector. The aim is to investigate the relationship between corporate
social responsibility practices and profitability in companies, as well as the coercion of
norms and actions aimed at social responsibility. The problem lies in understanding
the challenges faced by Brazilian companies in effectively incorporating social
responsibility practices. The question arises as to how reconciliation with profit and the
role of coercive measures will be possible. Using the inductive method, the study
achieved results that offer a detailed analysis of the historical evolution of social
responsibility in Brazil, critically evaluating its relationship with profitability and the
effectiveness of coercive measures to promote responsible practices. As its main
contribution, the study found an evolution of corporate social responsibility in Brazil.
The integration of socially responsible practices into business strategies makes the
search for profit and social and environmental expectations compatible. The study
concludes that there is a need for more robust, balanced and strategic regulation of
the issue for social responsibility that harmonizes economic objectives, social and
environmental commitments, for sustainable and inclusive development in the
Brazilian business sector.
